Nokia 6233 Review

6233

My hubby recently bought me a Nokia 6233.   After almost 2 months of scouting, researching and comparing other phones (i.e, nokia N73, nokia N70, nokia 6288, SE w810i, etc), I finally decided on choosing this phone based on its affordable price, 3G, bluetooth & infrared connectivity and 2-megapixel camera.  For a non-techie like me, these are the more relevant features to me.  It has other standard features like video, voice recorder, mp3 capable, organizer, etc.  I haven’t tried using its 3G powers yet (I have to wait for my tech guru/finance guru/hubby to teach me.)  I am hesitant to switch to other brands like Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericcson because I’ve had a lot of feedback from Nokia users who say it is quite difficult to adjust (well, not all Nokia users said so, but the majority does).  Here are some other pros and cons.

Thought for the day

CitiPhone Officers

10.26.2006 01.20

I called citibank to clarify my last 2 billing statements at this wee hours in the morning thinking it will be easier to get in their line, since it is so difficult to make a call at day time, at this time of the day, you can get in pretty easily. Upon hearing the person answer the phone on the other end, I quickly let him know that I just have a few questions regarding my billing statement for the month of August and September.

Here’s the summary/vivid recall of how the conversation went:

Eagle Miracle

ateneoProving my earlier post on the merits of college hoops, both the NCAA and UAAP finals over the weekend featured thrilling and dramatic endings. San Beda won the NCAA crown after a long drought after nearly losing a huge lead. Ateneo won Game 1 of the UAAP finals on a buzzer beating shot.

In the ADMU-UST game, heroes were aplenty, and it made the game truly enjoyable to watch. Zion Laterre was a monster on D, with at least 4 spectacular rejections. Chris Tiu held the fort in the 1st and 3rd quarters, in a rare display of aggressiveness, and some great assists to Kramer in the 4th. Mustve been the new shoes. Jai Reyes had his 1st big game after a bout with dengue. JC Intal made shot after shot in the 4th Q, more than making up for so many defensive lapses earlier in the game.

Pinoy Math

The Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or “number coding” system I am always open to new and radical ideas. However, the day the MMDA and some policemen sounded too pleased with themselves on the launching date many years ago, I knew we were in for trouble. I could never forget the traffic authorities' favorite replies when asked by the media about the UVVRP's effectivity, they seem to mouth off mindlessly, "well, the color coding scheme is quite effective, you can see that we have reduced the number of vehicles on the streets by 20%." Initially (in its perhaps few months of implementation) that was the case, but many years later, some still stick to that 20% fallacy misconception. "20% Effectivity" This is not some static pizza on the plate that we're talking about here. You take away 1 or two slices of pizza, no mysterious dough will grow back. Human will throws the notion of 20% effectivity down the dynamic drain. In the MMDA's scheme, plates with ending of 1 and 2 are banned on 7am-7pm on Mondays, plates ending 3 and 4 on Tuesdays, and so on. Here are the unseen statistics overlooked by our traffic "authorities".

  • People affected by this simply buy another car. There goes the supposed "one less car off the road".
  • People who can't buy another car, for example a housewife, will simply use the car the next day or the day previous the ban. So its "one less car off the road" today, but one more car on the road tomorrow that shouldn't have been out.
  • People who can't buy another car but need to go out everyday take more taxis. So there was a taxi boom the past years, if you hadn't noticed. So its "one less car off the road" but one too many more taxis and FX-es on the road.
  • Then there's the "feeling-exempted" few who have stickers, decals, passes that "exempt" them from the UVVRP scheme.

Traffic is here to stay with or without the color-coding/number-coding and the UVVRP is not the solution.

A visit at the makati pse, and the influence of writers

Today, i had a chance to visit again the view deck at the Makati pse. It’s amazing that the place has become packed contrary to what it was 4 years ago.

Before, there were at least a couple of terminals available but now, people are sharing at every terminal there is a certain buzz and there’s even a reporter there for anc waiting to go live for the latest insights.

It has been a far cry from the years the market was dry. A far cry from the sadness when people tried to bleed themselves dry when the pse was a mere 800.

I’m certainly glad that things are looking up. mining is in full swing and investors interest in investing in the stock market seems to be increasing with each push of the index.

Guitar Metal Days

I used to play guitar back in the school days, in fact I learned playing guitar pretty easy, having been around with guitarist in my younger years which plays in club dredd gave me an easy access to personal tutorial during my primary schooling years.

As early as grade 6, I was already strumming chords of Nirvana's smells like teen spirit and Gun's and Roses' Sweet Child O' Mine, as time passes by I learned more and more songs, from ballad songs, pop songs, and touching the heavy metal territory (trash and death metals), it was just in my early college days that I got tired of playing these types of songs, it is in fact not pleasant to the ears but it makes the fingers more flexble and it trains you to switch lightining quick chords and lead nodes.

Office Scene, Party Scene

Sept 21.

Day:

Quite a normal workday, spending most of my time hanging out in the office doing nothing =(, you see, I have been feeling useless and unproductive working for my employer, the projects doesn’t ring a bell, it doesn’t give me the feeling of self fulfillment worthy of a place in this world, but even before that I’ve been feeling the same thing from my previous employers, but that’s another story. Steve Jobs once said that he looks at the mirror every morning and asks himself this question: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, he knew he needed to change something. In my case, the answer has been a “NO” for too long now, it has been years.. but finding out what to do next is the difficult part. It has been too long now that I’ve been telling myself that someday, you’re gonna figure out what’s the right thing to do.. and I’m gonna find what I love, just like what Stevie said, same principle for Jerry Maguire..
