Bad Omen

Ever believe in bad omen? such as an event, a place you live in, a person you're with? I believe this house I'm in has a bad omen effect in our family, this is our 4th home, at first we lived in binondo right at the building where our family business is located, then transferred to Pasig during my primary schooling years, then San Juan during my early high school years, then back in Binondo but in a condo blg.

My Impossible Dream

Yesterday I told hubby/finance/tech guru that I finally realized what my lifelong dream is.  My dream is… to be able to retire from work and just let my spouse support me.  I would like to be able to just stay home and have all the free time in the world.  Wheeee!!!! You know what hubby told me? He said… "That's my dream too!!!!"  Buwissssiiittt!!!! :-P

Deja Vu Movie and Stocks

Stressed in equities or whatever job you're in?  Relax, see Denzel Washington's latest movie Deja Vu.

The word is supposed to stem from the notion of a flashback of things already experienced, and yet happens again.

Here we see him view the past and see how to alter this to catch a terrorist.

Worth watching, now if only we can use that time portal to give our past selves some hindsight data!

January TV Shows Return

This week marks the return of some of my avidly followed shows.

January 9, Tuesday, Doctor House Returns in House
January 14, Sunday, Part 1 of 2 Hour Season Premier of 24, Season 6
January 15, Monday, Part 2 of another 2 Hour Season Premier of 24, Season 6 (strangely, those 4 hours of season premier episodes have been available for download early this week! It's speculated that this may be the doing of AsiaTeam, a group who has been credited with uploading TV shows in the past. Seems like they may have gotten hold of the DVD that FOX plans to release after the premiere airs)

January 22 Monday, Heroes, Prison Break (Season 2 Episode 12)

Rocky Balboa Movie Review

Sylvester Stallone has a new movie in perhaps his final installment in the Rocky series, entitled simply Rocky Balboa.

The script is well written, and sticks to the "Italian Stallion in Philadelphia" theme.

His last movie in this series, Rocky V,

was done in 1990, and his real life son, Sage Stallone, also played his son in that same movie.  However, in this latest movie, Rocky 6, Rocky Jr. is played by Milo Ventimiglia, who also plays Peter Petrelli in the ongoing Television show, Heroes.

Brother-in-Law mafioso looking Burt Young reprises his role as the depressed smoker mentor Paulie.

Fantasy NBA Update

After 2 full months of the NBA season, one thing is clear, there has been more breakout/surprise players than any season in recent memory. Fantasy wise, this means big repercussions in the standings for those able to pick up these free agents.  This is more true in larger leagues of 12 teams and above, where a single impact player can make a difference.

Here are some of the must haves who were under the radar at the start of the year:

David Lee, NY - any savvy fantasy leaguer would stay away from any Knick player, but Lee has proven to be one of the few reliables in the chaotic domain of Isaiah Thomas.  Lee provides monster rebounding and has good FG%, plus he provides better scoring than Ben Wallace though has negligible blocks.  Major surprise nonetheless.

Bohol Review

Bohol Review

The trip to Bohol on the 23rd took longer than expected.  The Holiday traffic rush had us going a full two hours from Quezon City to the airport.  We parked our vehicle at the Park And Fly establishment where one can leave one's car for the duration of the trip, parked safely in a guarded parking lot for about 300 pesos per day.

We were fortunate that the domestic flight via PAL was not delayed at all.  The flight took around only an hour, and the usual light manufactured snacks were served.  The usual provincial-type airport that looks more like a rectangular one-storey building with four walls and a roof, greeted us on our touchdown.

Shanghai Sojourn – Eton Hotel

Hubby and I went to Shanghai for the New Year holiday. It’s the first time for both of us to be there and we joined the China Panorama Package Tour courtesy of Panda Travel. The package was a bit more expensive than normal but I guess the quality of dining and room accommodations give you more value for your money.
