Win or Lose It’s the School We Choose!

This line from the alma mater song may be small consolation for the thousands of Blue Eagles faithful out there, after losing to La Salle and finally getting eliminated from the championship race in this year's UAAP.  But as one who has followed 20 years of Blue Eagles teams, I believe that line rings truer this year.  I know many in the Ateneo community felt an upsurge in pride and school spirit as they followed this year's team, cheering it on as it overcame mediocre pre-season expectations to overachieve and eventually fall a hair's breadth short of reaching the Finals.

CKP Consultancy 20th Anniversary

Ckp Consultancy Services celebrated its 20th Anniversary in the consulting business initially setup for close friends and family and not for the public clientèle.  Our site being primarily a stock market site for the moment, what many people don't know is that stock market consultancy is only a small part of the company's business.  It's other fields branch out into areas of financing and lending.

The event, attended by more than a hundred people, was a success!  Adding icing to the cake was Edward Lee, Citiseconline owner to lend personal experience to his listeners.  He stressed the importance of using technical analysis, and combining this with market timing, market cycles, and fundamentals as key tools in forming one's investment strategies.  Incidentally, I've been meaning to do a "Stock Market Legends" article on Mr. Lee, and anyone with questions for him may reply in the space below so I can craft my interview properly.

Ateneo – La Salle Part 4!

Similar to the heart stopping endings of the previous 3 games, today's Ateneo-La Salle semis game was decided in the waning seconds.  Ateneo came from behind and lived to fight another day with a 65-64 victory as Chris Tiu scored on a 3 pointer and a driving layup,  to the delightful amazement of the blue faithful.  La Salle was leading at the end of all 3 initial quarters based largely on the heroics of its guards, TY Tang and JV Casio but the end result was shockingly disappointing as they seemed well on their way to eliminating Ateneo and moving on the Finals.

Senate’s ZTE Broadband Deal Inquiry – Abalos and Neri

After a long and tiring session yesterday (September 26, 2007) at the Senate  regarding its inquiry on the ZTE Broadband deal, we are left with more questions than answers.  The only good thing that came out yesterday was we now know our who among our Senators possesses a brain!!!  They kept asking stupid questions again and again and just used their alloted talk time to make snide "alaska" remarks to Comelec Chairman Ben Abalos and CHED Commissioner/ex-NEDA Chief Romulo Neri.

I was only able to catch some parts of the inquiry but it seems nobody asked Chairman Abalos nor Neda Chief Neri regarding Joey de Venecia's claim on First Gentleman Mike Arroyo's involvement.  Also, I wonder if the ZTE and/or Chinese embassy officials that they met with knew how to speak fluent English, or did they have a translator with them?  When was the first time the Chairman and these officials meet?  Who introduced them?
