Spurs Eliminate Suns

Just before the start of Game 1 of the San Antonio Spurs-Phoenix Suns series, ABC anchor Mike Breen said it "was one of the most anticipated and compelling matchups in the history of the NBA playoffs".  Any NBA fan worth his salt can almost certainly see past the exaggeration there but for many Suns followers (like me), it was indeed compelling enough to see whether the blockbuster trade by the Suns sending Shawn Marion to the Heat for an aging Shaquille O'Neal would finally push them over the hump.

Well, the Spurs took care of the Suns quicker than expected, needing only 4 games and leaving many wondering if the Suns could have fared better with Marion than with Shaq.   I highly doubt it.

Cheaper Medicine Bill Passed but lacking

Upper and Lower House of the Philippine Congress has passed the Cheaper Medicine Bill, and will now be transmitted to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for signing. Senator Mar Roxas said it would result in "increased competition that will lead towards a lowering of prices as well as assuring quality medicines."

From Inq and ABS: the "Universally Accessible Cheaper and Quality Medicines Act of 2008," seeks to:

Internet Fun for Kids: Playhouse Disney, NickJr, Barney, Starfall, etc.

Here are some great sites that are suitable for your toddlers and kids.  There are on-line games and activities that can be printed out.  Funny B loves to play with these games and I think that these sites helped her learn how to read, speak English correctly and now, she is starting to learn how to spell.  I've bookmarked these pages so that she can go to them easily.

Playhouse Disney: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, Higglytown Heroes, Little Einsteins, etc.

Youngest entrepreneur I know: How to Make Money This Summer

If Funny B is known for her comical quips and side comments, her cousin… let's call her Smarty A… is known for her sharp mind and quick wit.  Smarty A is 5 years old turning 6 next month.

Smarty A likes to buy stuff whenever she goes out to the malls.  Her parents, trying to teach her not to be careless with money, told her that she can not buy everything that she wants.   And that she needs to save money before buying a certain item.  So Smarty A told them… "I will sell lemonade to my cousins, uncles and aunties when they come here on Sundays, and then I will have money!!!"  A businesswoman at six!!! Money mouth

Philippine Health Care Scam : Health Visions corp ordered to pay $100M

Yet another Filipino perpetrated scam.  No wonder payment facilities and auction sites like western union, paypal, ebay, etc., frown at us like we're the fraud capital of the world.

Health Visions Corp., which pleaded guilty to mail fraud, was ordered to liquidate all assets within 10 months and give the proceeds to the U.S. government. Federal prosecutors say the company bilked the military's Tricare program out of US$99.9 million from 1998-2004. The program insures 9.2 million active and retired U.S. servicemen and dependents worldwide.

The company routinely inflated claims by more than 230 percent, operated a phony insurance program, and billed for medical services never delivered, court records showed, as the Pentagon moved slowly to uncover the scheme.
