Christmas shopping ideas (part 1): Personalized gifts

Its October once again… perfect time to start planning for Christmas gifts.  I know, i know… how can I think about spending for Christmas gifts when financial instability prevails.  But that's the whole point of this series, to suggest gifts that are thoughtful, useful and most importantly not so expensive.

One way to add a unique touch to your gifts without putting a strain on your hard earned pesos is to give personalized items.  There are so many personalized items out in the malls.  The more common  of which are cups, mugs, hats, towels, mousepads, keychains, magnets, t-shirts, pillows, etc.  But let me share with you other newer and unique items I've seen.

In a bazaar a few days ago, I saw these adorable items.  They are called Zipmates   (see Photo ).  As the name implies, you can attach it to your bags, jackets, or whatever items that have zippers.  It can also be attached to your key chains. There are several designs with your favorite cartoon characters like Dora, Pokemon, Disney Princesses, etc.  But the best thing about this product is that you can put your own name on it.  Kinda like in the states where we buy souvenirs such as doorplates, car plates, magnets with our names on it.  If the name you want is not available, there are other great quotes that are just as cute.  And it's not pricey either.  I bought it for P100 only.

Another personalized gift I came across with is personalized stationery.  There are notepads, notebooks, gift tags, note cards that have cute and unique designs to choose from.  The prices for such items usually range from P50 to about P300 pesos depending on the type of product.

Lastly, the newer and more modern way of personalizing stuffs is by putting photos in it.  Photos are digitally printed unto cups, shirts, etc.  I also saw some stores offering "scrapbook" types of lay-outing. I am not sure if how much these services cost though.
