Work from home ideas: Online business via Multiply.com

During the past Christmas rush, I've made some online shopping through Multiply.com.  I've browsed through Multiply so much that my sisters-in-law calls me "Multiply Queen". Setting up an online business via Multiply is fast, easy and most of all, tax free! Multiply + your product + creativity + patience + hardwork = kaching! kaching! $$$.  Here are ten ways to insure your business will be a success:

1.  Choose a good name.  I find it more effective if your name has something to do with what you are selling.  Makes it easier to remember than a generic name like shopping, cuteness, kikay, etc.

2. Once you've registered with Multiply, you can create your own page or hire someone to create it for you.   You don't have to be a techie to be able to create a nice page but it does take a lot of time.  Just remember to keep your page simple, neat and coherent.  Also get a separate cellular phone number or e-mail address for clients to contact you.

3. Photos: this will be the selling point of your product so be sure to make them clear and impressive.  Put watermark on your photos to prevent others from "copying".  It is advisable to have a page for FAQs, pricing, delivery, payment and return/refund policies.  While some pages have complicated guidelines, I find that just sticking to the basics will make your business handling easier.

4. Pricing: prices can be posted together with the picture of the product or have a separate page for that.  (Believe me, you will run out of patience with the question.. how much?).  But for some products like made-to-order stuff, it's understandable that you can't post the prices.  Just remember to keep your pricing consistent.

5. Payment:  I've observed the most payments are channeled via Gcash.  You can have a separate bank account in BDO, Metrobank or BPI.  (I think an account with one or two of these banks will suffice.)

6. Delivery:  Now, this is quite tricky.  Though a lot of multipliers are using Xend, Air 21, etc. there had been instances that problems arise.  So be prepared.  BTW, shipping is almost always shouldered by the client.  It also helps if you include a sample shipping charge chart in your site.

7. Meet-ups: this is also nice since you get to meet your clients face to face but be sure to keep your meet-ups in safe environments especially if you are selling high valued goods. Plus, you might be wasting your time and effort if the client texts you at the last minute that he/she can't meet with you and wants to reschedule.

8.  Order Form:  Require your clients to have an order form filled up before accepting any order.  This serves as your proof that the buyer is serious and is clear about what he/she wants.  NO order form, No payment = No transaction!!!

9.  Lead time: Inform your client about lead time and be sure to stick to your promised delivery date.

10. Beware of scammers.  Like any business, online businesses are also susceptible to scamming.  Also avoid giving out your home address and other personal information that these scammers might find useful in the future.

P.s. to start informing other multipliers about your site, just visit others sites and more often than not, they will visit your page too and ask to add them as a contact. Personally, I prefer to add contacts only when I've experienced that they are credible.
