Ipad too expensive for you? Not impressed by the feature loadout for Apple’s big tablet device? Well, if you’re travelling abroad anytime soon, you’re in luck. The iPed has just been released in Shenzhen, China (the place where original Apple Ipods and Ipads are made) and it’s only going to set you back a cool $150 or so–quite a discount compared to Apple’s asking price of $500 for its lowest model of iPads.
So, what exactly is the iPed? Well, for starters, it’s not a counterfeit knock-off of Apple’s iPad per se. Though it might look fairly identical on the outside, the iPed is actually a wee bit heavier than Apple’s 1.5-1.6 pound device. The iPed comes with an Intel CPU and runs Google’s Android OS, rather than the iPhone OS. It could, in fact, be a preview of legit Android tablets to come.

PS3 hacked!

Probably just in time for a short to medium term bear market, the good old PS3 has been hacked after 3 years. The hacker: none other than one of the first few to break the Iphone first generation: Geohotz.
He will release the patch and instructions soon, and was confident that he has broken through already. In all likelihood, the hack will probably be like the recent wii hack where you play games off an external drive which contains downloaded isos.
In his blog about how he details hacking the ps3, he mentions “I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1. I’ve also dumped the NAND without removing it or a modchip.

Now that mininova has gone bust, a lot are asking where to get their favorite torrents: updated and organized in the mininova way?
Mininova disabled access to over a million torrent files when it partly shut down its website after 5 years of being online, partly due to the negative ruling on thepiratebay.
The most glaring reason for this change in format was last August a Dutch court ruled that Mininova had to remove all links to ‘infringing’ torrent files, with disastrous consequences.
Since it is technically unfeasible to pre-approve or filter every potentially infringing torrent file, the Mininova team decided to throw in the towel and only allow torrents to be submitted by approved uploaders. This move resulted in the deletion of more than a million torrents, many of which were not infringing any copyrights at all.

Okay, so you've learned how to stream seamless from your Windows 7 PC to your PS3, and are able to watch downloaded videos with the upscaling feature of your PS3, but what about those other movies you've downloaded where the subtitles are separate files and not hard coded into your video?
The answer is simple. download AVIADDXSUBS, a free program that converts and hardcodes the subs in only about two minutes.
AVIAddXSubs is a simple free program to incorporate subtitles from .srt (ANSI text, up to 2 srt) or idx/sub (containing up to 8 subtitles) quickly and easily to your avi files containing DivX/XVid video streams. Just place the avi and its associated (same name) srt in the same directory and Drag&Drop the avi on AVIAddXSubs icon or shortcut in your desktop. In 2-3 minutes a new file with divx extension will be created and be ready to play in your hardware DivX player. IdxSub2Srt is included in AVIAddXSub, convert idx/sub to SRT using OCR.

Previously, we offered an article on how to stream media from your PC's Win XP to your PS3 using a program called Tversity. With the suave new Windows 7, sharing without using any third party programs could never be easier.
The first thing you should do is switch both your ps3 and pc on.
With the PS3 you should navigate the XMB to Settings. Then right at the bottom go into Network Settings. Once again at the bottom is Media Server Connection. Click this and Enable.
Now navigate back to the Video menu. You should now see "Search for Media Servers" and possible the name of a computer/server on your network.
