FinanceTravels: Bohol Beach, Panglao …..Relax and Live a little

It is said that Bohol has one of the best beaches in the Philippines. White sands 50 feet out to the sea yet even at that far a distance still being about knee high in its dept with the crystal clean waters as clear as the blue sky A real certain feast for the weary well traveled eyes.

Panglao beach is one of these beaches in Bohol and it leaves nothing to be wanted. If you have been to the beaches of Boracay you will surely appreciate the beaches of Bohol. Simply told the sands are finer and the place by itself a little less crowded.

Seven MTG Mathchievers outwit Asian Contenders in 2nd Hua Luo Geng Mathematics Elites Invitational Competition in Beijing, China

From: MTG Philippines

It’s another homerun for the Filipino kids who went to meet the challenge in the 2nd Hua Luo Geng Mathematics Elites Invitational Competition held in Beijing, China on July 16-20, 2008 which was participated in by no less than 259 math-gifted children from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore and the Philippines.

This math competition had been conducted for the second time in honor and acknowledgment to the great contribution of the outstanding Chinese Mathematician, Hua Luogeng (Hua Loo-Keng). He was the founder and pioneer of many fields in new China's mathematics research. He wrote more than 200 theses and monographs, many of which have become classic documents of immortal value. Besides pure mathematics, Hua also did a lot of work in the fields of mathematics applications. He made the mathematics serve the national economy and became the first Chinese scientist who closely combined the mathematics theoretic studies and practical production, and obtained enormous economic results in many fields.

How much can your money buy?

June inflation up 11%… 11% ONLY???  I went shopping for groceries last night and was quite shocked at how much my total bill was.  It amounted to P4,500.  All I bought fit inside only four plastic bags!!! Unbelievable!!!  And this is not a full grocery load.  Just bought stuff mainly for my daughter's baon and snacks for the family.  I did not buy any cooking ingredients, toiletries, canned goods, ice cream, imported chips, canned drinks, wet market items, detergents, etc.  The most expensive item I bought was my daughter's milk (which was P474/can x 2 cans).  I also indulged myself by buying four small packs of Maltesers and four Yanyan.  The rest were local products like biscuits, instant noodles, tetra-packed milk and cereals.  I didn't even buy pasalubong for my dog.  I usually buy some doggie treats for her.  She was so excited to see us come home and I felt guilty for not buying her treats.   That's our Haps in the photo. Yes We Can… from Sea to Shining Sea

I'm really not into American politics in a big way but I came across this video,  a mix of a Barack Obama speech and a Black Eyed Peas rendition.  Several celebs also have parts in this video such as Scarlett Johansson, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriguez (CSI Miami), Kelly Hu, Amber Valetta, Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace) and a host of others.

Its a very powerful video, excellently made and edited, and, the politics aside, the message resonates more each time I watch it.  Some of the lines pertain strictly to certain segments of American history but most are meaningful even to us in this part of the world.

Here's the video:

Yes We Can – Barack Obama Music Video

The lyrics:

Does having more money bring happiness?

Does having more money bring happiness?

Yes I think it does. What kind of problems would you rather have?

Rich people problems

  • honey, we can't go to Amanpulo this summer, no more bookings
  • honey, no more space to park if you buy that Jaguar
  • honey, we need to fix the roof and tiles
  • driver is absent

Poor people problems

  • honey, we need to buy instant noodles again, we're all out
  • huh, i just bought one pack the other day, didn't you halve it like we discussed
  • honey, the kids would have to stop studying this June, no more tuition money
  • husband is sick so he will be absent so no extra money to buy food. back to noodles

Those are not derogatory scenarios against rich nor poor. Its a reality.  Read on. . .

Digital Gear Review

Digital Gear Review

Yesterday i bought the Invisible shield as im sick of my bulky acrylic case for my Iphone.

The clear acrylic case served me well but it always picked up dirt in the crevices and was bulky in my pocket the Iphone is big enough as it is.

The invisble shield is this new space age Full body casing for you digital device according to their website

"ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD™ is a thin, polyurethane film originally created for the military to protect the leading edge of helicopter blades. What's unique about this military-grade film is how tough it is – it doesn't scratch. Introduced in early 2005, the invisibleSHIELD is the first product of its kind. Its patent-pending, full body protection has revolutionized the industry and has changed the way people think of protecting their devices. Others have tried to imitate it and have fallen short.
